About Coach Lauren

With over 25 years of experience serving the running and walking community, Lauren Updyke brings elite performance experience and heartfelt passion to every athlete she coaches. Currently serving as Chief Wellness Officer at a Big Ten University, Lauren leads large-scale employee wellness initiatives while sharing her love of endurance sports with athletes of all levels.
 

Lauren also founded the Duke Run Walk Club, which grew to over 500 employees participating in weekly training sessions, creating a vibrant community of runners and walkers who support each other every step of the way.


A former collegiate runner ranked second in Canada in the 5K at age 18, Lauren has completed 34 marathons and two ultramarathons, including a second-place female finish at the Badwater 50K. Certified in exercise physiology, she has trained more than 10,000 runners and walkers—from beginners to experienced athletes.
